The HANNA HI701 free chlorine checker is a digital colourimeter for chlorine testing. With the HI701 chlorine meter you can easily, accurately and cost-effectively measure free chlorine. Free chlorine is the active form of chlorine used to disinfect drinking water, swimming pools and spas.
The benefits of chlorine on water are many, and it is precisely these benefits that make the use of chlorine in drinking water tanks and swimming pool maintenance so important. First and foremost, it is a powerful germicide, reducing the level of pathogenic micro-organisms in the water to levels that are almost impossible to measure. Chlorination allows the control of taste and odours by reducing them, this is due to the fact that chlorine oxidises substances that occur naturally, we are referring to the secretions of smelly algae and odours of vegetation that is in the process of decomposition; chlorine gives water odourless attributes and favourably modifies its taste.

how is it used?
Designed as a more accurate alternative to chemical test kits, the HI701 provides fast and accurate results in a few simple steps:
STEP 1. Zero the checker with your water sample.
STEP 2. Add reagent to the cuvette.
- Liquid reagent: Add 3 drops of reagent A and 3 drops of reagent B
STEP 3. Place the vial in the sample chamber making sure that the marks are aligned.
Press the button and read the results.

These digital photometers or test kits serve as a bridge between very simple test kits and professional instrumentation such as a calibrated photometer.
Conventional test kits are not accurate and depend entirely on the user viewing the colour, which is why HANNA has digitised this measurement and achieved accurate digital pocket colourimeters.
The innovative shape of the Checker makes it fit in the palm of the hand and in the pocket. In addition, the LCD display is easy to read, with an automatic shut-off function in case for some reason you forget to turn it off.
