how do skimmers work?

The skimmer acts as the first stage of water filtration. It is installed on the pool wall, at water level, and is connected to the purification system. Through its mouth, the water is gently sucked into an internal basket where floating debris is trapped. Subsequently, the water continues its journey to the main filter, free of coarse impurities.

Some models include floating gates (also called "flaps") that regulate the water inlet and prevent debris from flowing back out once inside.
